Car accidents happen every day. You never know when you’re going to be involved in one. According to a report from Esurance, 77 percent of drivers have been in at least one accident. The chance of someone getting into a car wreck on a 1,000-mile trip is 1 in 366. Car insurance companies know a lot about the trends of car accidents and claim that the average driver files an insurance claim for an auto collision about every 17.9 years.

But when a car accident happens to you, you may feel like you’re the only person going through it. And it can be terrifying to find yourself behind the wheel of a car when you’ve lost control or have been struck by another vehicle. Sometimes accidents happen out of the blue, and there is nothing you could have done to stop them from happening. Other times, the driver is at fault because they were driving in an unsafe way.

Now, let’s get to Hollywood. A woman was driving along California State Route 126 when she suddenly swerved off the road and crashed into an embankment, reported TMZ. One of the people who stopped his car to help the woman in distress was the world-famous actor Harrison Ford, 75. Ford is most famous for his roles in Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

Thankfully, Ford was there to offer his assistance. He was joined by other bystanders who also witnessed the terrible crash. Together, they joined forces to help bring the woman safely out of her damaged vehicle. She was taken to the local hospital and reportedly only suffered from minor injuries.

Local law enforcement officers thanked Ford and the other volunteers for stepping out of their cars to assist the woman during her moment of need. And because Ford has such a recognizable face, someone was at the crash scene snapping photos of the actor acting heroic. Ford was apparently in the car behind the woman when she abruptly swerved off the road and into the embankment.

Santa Paula Police Department Senior Officer Matt Alonzo reported that the crash was quite severe. The female driver had driven off the main highway and had rolled her vehicle, and crashed into a tree. She was lucky to have only suffered minor injuries, as the crash could have proven deadly if she had not been wearing her seatbelt.

Officer Alonzo said that Ford and his friend did a wonderful job helping the woman.

“He acted as a good Samaritan, just like everybody else, and tried to help before emergency services arrived,” Alonzo told USA Today. It was Ford and the other bystanders who helped remove the woman from the vehicle before emergency services could arrive at the scene.

Thankfully, the female driver was the only person in the car during the crash. And she was the only one who got injured. She is expected to make a full recovery. However, California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident to see if there is anything to suggest a problem.
